Your credit score is a number that reflects the information in your credit report.

The most widely used credit scores are the scores that have been created by the Fair Isaac Corporation.  Lenders can buy these scores from all three major credit reporting agencies that are listed below:

Under federal law, you have a right to obtain a free copy of your credit report without charge from each of the national credit reporting agencies once a year.  You may order your free credit report by the following:

• Get your free credit report online.
• By mail:  Mail your completed Annual Credit Report Request Form (which you can obtain from the Federal Trade Commission's website) to:
